The consumption of bivalve molluscs has a long tradition and is very important in Portuguese gastronomy. The freshness of this type of food on everyone’s tables is something very important.
The Portuguese consumer is very knowledgeable and therefore demanding when it comes to shellfish, which means that the whole industry has to offer quality.
We strive to be a benchmark in this industry and are completely focused on offering excellent products, with high quality and freshness.
Bivalves feed by filtering the water in their environment. In other words, they filter out the nutrients they need to thrive from that same water, which means they can accumulate contaminating organisms and substances (viruses, bacteria, toxins, lead, cadmium, hydrocarbons, among others) inside.
Here at Riversul Mariscos we are certified by the DGRM and DGAV. From day one, we have implemented a food safety guarantee system (HACCP), in accordance with Regulation 853/2004. According to national legislation, the entire purification process must be subject to clear controls and standards so that the bivalves can meet the required hygiene and health requirements. We regularly carry out analyzes of the tank waters and bivalves, as well as all equipment and uniforms. These analyzes are carried out by a certified company.
We also have a veterinary control identification number that is printed on all our product labels.
By being on the market in this way, we guarantee high quality and, above all, food safety to all those who come to us.
